About Me

Hi, I’m Zane Williams

I’m a 10-year-old karting driver from Bristol, and racing is my absolute passion.

I started my journey at Absolutely Karting Fishponds, where I trained for just five days before entering my first race. I finished third, even though most of the drivers were older and had raced before. That moment made me realise how much I loved racing and how much I wanted to keep improving.

Since turning ten, I’ve started racing nationally in championships like the Daniel Ricciardo Series (DRS), Club 100, Hereford Championships, and the Daytona Milton Keynes Winter Series.

My Journey So Far

Since turning ten, I’ve started racing nationally in championships like the Daniel Ricciardo Series (DRS), Club 100, Hereford Championships, and the Daytona Milton Keynes Winter Series.

I’ve had some amazing results so far:

  • 🥈 2nd Place – DRS New Star debut

  • 🥈 2nd Place – Daytona Winter Series Pre-Qualifier

  • 🏆 Winner – Hereford Beginners Class

  • 🏁 Front Row Qualifier – Club 100 B-Class (out of 65 drivers aged 9–13)

Training & Mentorship

I’m lucky to train with James Small at JS Racing Tuition in Herefordshire. James is an experienced kart racer who’s raced with Lando Norris and George Russell, and he’s helping me develop my technique, focus, and consistency.
We do one-on-one training every two weeks, and my goal is to join the JS Racing Team by the time I’m 13.

I’ve also been in contact with Bradley Philpott, a professional racer and YouTuber, who’s shown interest in helping me take the right steps towards owner-karting in the future.

My Passion for Motorsport

I’ve loved Formula 1 since I was really young, I’ve read books about how it all began and how the cars have evolved over the years.

I was lucky enough to go to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone thanks to my family, and it was one of the best days of my life. Seeing the cars up close and hearing the sound of the engines made me even more certain that racing is what I want to do.

I also love visiting the Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil to look at old racing cars and F1 models — and I always try to get a few laps in on their kart track when I can!

My Family & Support

I couldn’t do any of this without my family. My mum, Natalie, and my dad have supported me from the very start from race entries and travel to hotels, fuel, and equipment.
Together, they’ve already invested around £8,000 this year so I can race across the country. The total cost for a full season is about £11,500, so every bit of support means a lot to us.

My school, Tynings School, has also been really supportive. They let me have authorised time off to attend races and training as long as I catch up on any work I miss — which I always do. My teachers, friends, and even their parents often watch my races live on YouTube, which is amazing!

My Goals

Over the next year, I’ll be racing in:

  • Club 100 Series (March–October 2026)

  • Daytona Milton Keynes Winter Series (September 2025–March 2026)

  • Herefordshire Winter Series (September 2025–March 2026)
Along with regular training and test days at Herefordshire.

My main goal is to keep learning, improving, and getting stronger as a driver so that I can move into higher levels of karting and one day into single-seater racing like F4 or F1.

My efforts off track

I’m currently training under a Strength & Conditioning Coach who works with Premier League footballers, Conor Benn and even athletes in Formula 1. Having someone with that level of elite experience behind me is pushing my performance, fitness and discipline to a completely new level. It’s helping me prepare like a top-tier athlete and make real gains every week off track.
